Date Night Must Do’s

Whether you’re just beginning to dip your toe back into the world of dating after a break up or you are full of excitement that the guy you have been eying at work has finally asked you out, it is completely natural to have some pre-date butterflies. To give you a helping hand we have gathered together some of our favorite date prep style and beauty tips to make sure you don’t have to change your outfit and makeup a hundred times before leaving the house and can concentrate on that hot date instead!

Pamper Yourself

Although pamper-days usually come with deep cleansing, scrubs and peeling, try to avoid anything harsh before the date and use hydrating products instead. Treat yourself with a bubble bath, a hydrating lotion and a plumping face mask, save anything that can irritate your skin or cause redness for later (or a few days before the big night). Focus on every beauty detail: paint your nails and apply a hair mask, so you will feel super confident when meeting up. Also ensure you have a gorgeous white smile (smiling a lot and showing off your pearly whites is definitely a plus!) and mints in your bag to prepare for the alluring possibility of that first kiss (assuming he is a prince and not a toad, of course).

The Perfect Date Makeup Step By Step

1. Glowing Complexion:

After hydrating and priming your skin, use a medium coverage, long-lasting foundation. If your skin is dry or normal, go for a dewy finish one (such as Mac Face and Body or Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk), but if you have oily skin, start up with a matte base (Urban Decay All Nighter) and build up the shine with a highlighter

2. Highlight & Contour:

You don’t need any crazy cream contouring for a date, but why not emphasize your cheekbones a bit? With a matte brown powder, lightly contour your cheekbones and then add a hint of highlight on the top of your nose and cheeks. After you are done with contouring, add a bit of blush as well.

3. Doll Eyes:

If you have a signature eye look, just go for it. It is important to show off your personality, but if you are not sure how to do your eye makeup, just go with a classy look that will open up your eyes. Use white eyeliner on the inner corner of your eyes and towards the middle of your eyelids and connect the white liner with your black, winged liner. This way, the black liner will give you that cat eye look while the white liner will make your eyes brighter, even if you didn’t have time to sleep.

4. Tinted Lip Balm:

No makeup is finished without lip products: for a date, try out something subtle, such as a pink glossy balm or matte liquid lipstick.

Show Off Your Personality

Although you don’t have to go crazy with accessorizing, add an element to your outfit that represents your personal style. Whether it’s a bracelet you always wear, a scarf or your signature black heels, don’t forget to wear it!

Choose Interesting Materials

Dress to please yourself, as that way you will feel more confident and will be showing a true expression of who you are. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should meet your date in your Sunday Netflix lounging around wear, but if you have a more casual style, go ahead and rock those jeans. You could consider fitting in a blouse with velvet or silk details or a skirt with leather pockets into your look to make your outfit more interesting. Whatever you choose, from that LBD to show off your silhouette or a more relaxed look, make sure everything fits perfectly and you are not uncomfortable. Chatting into the wee hours of the morning will be far more enjoyable if that bra underwire isn’t digging into your skin.

Be Yourself

Don’t be afraid to show your true personality. This doesn’t mean you have to share your darkest secrets on the first date, but don’t be shy to express your opinions and feelings on a topic. Your unique qualities are what make you fascinating.

Sometimes more serious subjects can come up, and these conversations can be stimulating as long as you both respect each other and listen to each other’s thoughts and feelings. It’s ok to have different points of view, it’s part of what makes life interesting.

The most important thing is to meet your date feeling comfortable and confident in yourself, and let the true you shine through!
